Victorian Seniors Festival Reimagined 2021
Victorian Seniors Festival Reimagined 2021
In October many live events will be presented as part of the Festival reimagined. Two significant Festival events take place during the Festival’s 8 days of free public transport for Victorian Seniors Card holders - Celebration Day at Fed Square and the Festival Hub at Deakin Edge Fed Square. Both events are free.
Celebration Day
Sunday 3 October
11.30am to 5.30pm
A long-running major Festival event, Celebration Day is the official opening of the month long 2021 Festival reimagined live events program. This year there is a strong focus on entertainment and fun. We all have been reminded how important live entertainment is and this year‘s program will feature four performance areas.
The main stage program is a mix of great jazz and swing, music from varied cultures, and a celebration of Australian rock. The beautiful Deakin Edge Theatre will host community choirs, dancers and classical musicians, and the River Terrace performance and display space will hum along with active living, movement, circus and dance presentations. Roving performers will mingle with the crowd as they check out various marquees featuring older people’s organisations, including LACV, and our major sponsor Nurse Next Door.
Festival Hub
at Deakin Edge Fed Square, Monday 4 October to Friday 8 October, 10.30am to 4.30pm and three evening sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
The Hub offers free tea and coffee and is a great place to relax and enjoy entertainment and a mix of workshops and information sessions.
Daily concerts at 12 noon and 2.30pm feature 10 great acts, including Lonnie Lee, Rebecca Barnard, SOS, Retro Girls, The Gram O Phonie Brothers, Melbourne Red Shield Band and the Louisiana Shakers. Melbourne City U3A presents the play Who Do We Think We Are at 5.30pm on the Tuesday.
