Trentham LAC

In April the Club was invited by the Hepburn Shire Council to apply for a Reactivating Grant to encourage Club members to become involved in activities following the Covid-19 lockdowns. We swung into action by organising a Community Country Style Afternoon Tea. We wrote a submission and received our Grant.

Posters were created and placed in our library, shop windows and local notice boards. Invitations were sent to all members and special guests. Group coordinators were invited to join in. The invitation was posted on Trentham Connections.

The event was held on Friday the 30th April in the Trentham Bowling Club, a brilliant, sunny, autumn day. We had visual displays of activities and also displayed the proposed plans for the new Community Hub on the wall and invited our local Councilor/ Deputy Mayor to attend and so he could discuss them. Scones with jam and cream, and sandwiches were served, along with various teas and coffee.

Guests talked to coordinators about their different Activity Groups and demonstrations of men’s petanque, mahjong and gigong/Chinese exercises took place. There was a real buzz in the room and outside. People were socialising, wanting to join activities, making new friends and meeting old ones again. It was a great success.

As a follow-up, brochures are being distributed via a town and district postal drop, and posters placed on notice boards in Trentham and surrounding districts.
