The Australian Bush
I am an ex-President of Waverley LAC, and for some years now have been giving talks to Probus and other LAC clubs on the subject of “The Australian Bush”.
I have done a lot of travel around Australia, and found some of the information passed on by rangers, tour leaders and guides to be fascinating. They include the special links between individual plants and insects, between birds and plants, and the surprisingly complicated social lives of birds. I recorded much of this information in my trip diaries and eventually decided to put all of that, plus my own lifelong experience with birds, into a talk which allows me to share that knowledge with others.
Perhaps the best way to sum it up is that I might come across as a poor man’s David Attenborough!
I have a library of slides which I have broken up into various topics, which allows me to cater the length of the talk from anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on club requirements. A couple of clubs invited me back to give a second talk covering the material I had not already used.
I enjoy passing on this information, so that I do not charge for the service (but my wife is partial to a Sav. Blanc!)
I would like to offer my services to LAC ‘s who are looking for a guest speaker now that conventional meetings are becoming possible again.
