LAC Knox

LAC Knox

Bus trip to Echuca. In April, 42 members of LAC Knox set off on a 5-day bus trip to Echuca. A lovely mixture of longstanding and new members.

AMAZING!!! So many interesting sites in our country towns. Echuca was our base location, but there is so much more to the area. Stopping for lunch in Bendigo, there was time to visit Bendigo Pottery, revealing new designs, colours, and all are beautifully finished.  Next day to Boort, with the visit to the property of wheelchair bound,  John Piccoli, The Spanner Man. Yes, wonderful creations and sculptures produced only with spanners. We also tasted Olives at Salute Olive Farm, learned about olive preserves, olive oil etc. Then another stop where green tomatoes are a specialty. Either sliced and pickled, mashed as a spread, and as a dressing.

So many painted silos along the way, native animals, birds, draught horses, these must take hours and hours to create.  Then there is the 20m tribute to the Anzac Spirit at Devenish. This one depicts a first aider, a nurse, and a soldier, standing by his horse.

A great learning experience, thanks to Convenors Frank and Lorraine, Pat from Designer Tours, and Coach Captain, Linda.

I am planning to return, there is so much happening, breathtaking scenery, worth another trip!
