LAC Surf Coast

LAC Surf Coast

Being outside the ‘Ring of Steel’ here on the Surf Coast enabled us to continue our outdoor activities over the past few months. Our walking and tennis groups continued and even our scrabble and various other groups were able to find outdoor areas in parks to meet. Our new knitting group started with ‘The Isolation Blanket Project’. Twelve members knitted squares to make up a 1.8m x 1.2m blanket which was donated to a refugee family in Geelong. They are now making more blankets and beanies.

A few of our members took part in LACVI’s On-Line Trivia conducted by Deb. They greatly appreciated and enjoyed the event, even managing to win!

Our AGM on 10th September was held via Zoom, with a couple of trial sessions run beforehand. Forty members participated and we welcomed a new secretary and treasurer to our committee.

Now that lockdown is over, our Wanderers walking group are heading to Phillip Island for a few days of fun filled activities. We’ll be celebrating and getting together again soon at our Christmas Picnic and look forward to all of our activity groups resuming in 2021.
