Remote Book Club

Remote Book Club

Quote: I am reading with a little more diligence and have reserved books suggested in last meeting. It’s not quite the same as seeing people in person but it’s making us feel better about staying in. Jenny

Once a fortnight I host an ‘Online Book Club’ via Zoom. This is a new activity since the coronavirus lock-down. People attend because they want to chat and also get ideas for books to read. At the moment we have 5-6 members. There is no specific book that everyone has to have read, therefore people can discuss their favourite writer or talk about a specific book they enjoyed or were disappointed in.

Some favourite authors discussed: Michael Connelly, Ann Cleeves, Jane Austin, Loretta Hill, Jonas Jonasson, Kim Edwards, Anne Pratchett, Elena Ferrante and Hugh van Cuylenburg.

We ran some Zoom Trial sessions before the 1st ‘official’ session to make sure everyone could get onto Zoom and their video and microphone worked and they were comfortable with the technology. This worked very well and gave everyone confidence. The LACVI resources prepared by Deb were very useful.
