Club News Round-up: Yarraville LAC
This year’s calendar commenced soon after New Year with our normal activities of Dining out, Mah Jong, Movies and UFO (Un-Finished Objects with ladies together sharing handcraft ideas).
In January there was an extremely hot day trip visiting the beautiful, historic Edwardian precinct of Maling Rd Camberwell.
Another activity was a day workshop for some members at ‘Myriad Glass Studio’ in Kilmore to learn and create 2 individually crafted pieces of glass each under the guidance of the award winning artist Marina Villani. Wow! These ladies on showing us their finished work, made some beautiful pieces of glassware to use and treasure. Well done ladies!
February’s General Meeting at our club room’s topic was ‘Financial counselling, financial literacy & financial capability’ conducted by one of our YLAC members qualified in Financial Counselling. What a brilliant and actually fascinating subject to help us protect our finances, for all ages. A session full of information.
Just prior to the self isolation in March, we were lucky to experience a visit to the Buddhist ‘Heavenly Queen’ Temple in Footscray, right on the bank of the Maribyrnong River. The temple and exquisite stonework in the forecourt has also surrounding buildings which are a work in progress, with many volunteers involved. Then happily lunched at a local café.
