Club News Round-up: Inner Melbourne LAC

As most of our activities are based around social gathering we ceased our functions early March.

We have maintained contact the old fashioned way via phone calls between members to ensure everyone is ok and coping. We also sent an old fashioned card to a member who moved early January and was unable to join in the social group activities in her new place.

As restrictions are lifted, cases stable and we feel safe on public transport, we will send out extras for any activity we are comfortable with.

I would love to congratulate all of those who have mastered Zoom which has enabled us to still have meetings and deal with what was a daily changing environment. One thing to come out of this is that we are resourceful when we need to be. What we all have come to realise is the importance of our families.

Below is a poem I included in our April to June 2020 Newsletter that says it all.

Every hand that we don’t shake must
Become a “phone call” that we place
Every embrace that we avoid must
Become a verbal expression of
Warmth and concern. Every inch
And every foot that we physically
Place between ourselves and another
Must become a thought as to how
We might be of help to that other
Should the need arise.
