President Alex Sy
Alex is currently a member of the Casey/Cardinia LAC. Alex comes into the LACVI Board with vast experience in management, governance, accounting & auditing, marketing, process mapping, and as a facilitator. He has a Business Consulting Company. He is involved with the Filipino community in Victoria, as well as other multicultural groups. He strongly believes in the promotion of cultural diversity to the wider community. He continues to provide Volunteer work within the community, providing advice, guidance and mentorship. He was part of the Victorian Government Community Engagement Committee. Alex was also part of the Steering Committee that established a local Bendigo Community Bank, and then to become part of the Board of the Lakeside Pakenham Community Bank, as the company secretary. He is a current member of the Australia-Philippines Business Council. Alex has recently completed a Masters degree. He loves spending time with family and friends, as well as his love for red wines and single malt scotch. He is inspired by successful and positive people. Board member since 2017

Secretary Sue Van Gerrevink
Sue worked for over 20 years in Human Relations with a Ballarat based company as Payroll Manager. Her association with that company together with her experience as joint owner in several bookshops in Ballarat and Moonee Ponds gives her a strong business background. After retirement in Melbourne, she has taken a leading role in her Owners Corporation including management of several adjacent buildings. She joined the Inner Melbourne LAC in 2014 and is their current President. Board member since 2016

Treasurer Tugo Tucun
Tugo was born and bred in the outback mining city of Broken Hill NSW and spent a large part of his working life with mining companies North Broken Hill Ltd at Broken Hill, and Kanmantoo Mines Ltd in South Australia. He is a retired accountant and during his time in Broken Hill attained the status of FCPA (Fellow Certified Practising Accountant). A major part of his working life was spent in the food industry as an employee for such companies as Australian Bacon Ltd (Dandy brand fame), Bennett and Fisher, Anchor Foods, Conagra International. Consulting work included such companies as George Weston Foods, CSR, BNG Trading (PNG), and Ditters Nuts. Also owned and operated a USA licenced small stock processing plant which supplied products to both the domestic and overseas markets. Currently the president and treasurer of Port Phillip Life Activities Club (PPLAC) and an affiliate member of Inner Melbourne LAC. Board member since 2022

Project Coordinator & Immediate Past President Kath Frowen
Kath is a recently retired nurse who specialised in occupational health and safety, working in manufacturing in New Zealand and Australia. This morphed into a keen interest and further qualifications in work-related contact dermatitis and management of a research and education centre. Kath held senior positions in her professional association and has a background in research ethics. She is a member of Port Phillip LAC and an affiliate member of Inner Melbourne LAC. Kath was LACVI secretary 2016-2018 and president since 2019. She enjoys travel to exotic and distant climes although it’s a hard call to leave her little canine companion at home. Board Member Mila Cichello
Mila was a Registered Nurse and Midwife who worked for many years in Neonatal ICU. She changed careers and completed her Honours (Behavioural Sciences) and Master’s Degree (Org Psych) to accommodate the increasing demands of a young family. As a Registered Psychologist, Mila worked in both private and public sectors. She has experience in aged care legislation, government relations, health planning, policy and program delivery. In 2003, she commenced PhD research into health outcomes of ageing migrants from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities across Australia, particularly Filipinos. When Mila became the co-carer for elderly parents and a paralysed young brother, she was an advocate supporting culturally appropriate dementia care and their carer networks. Mila works part-time and is active in professional groups where she contributes to government initiatives such as Parliamentary Senate Inquiry into Issues facing Grandparent Carers of young Children (2014). She is an active Community Leader/Mentor in the Fil-Australian community and organizer of annual medical missions helping deaf children in the Philippines since 1993. For fun, Mila spoils her grandchildren and goes walkabouts to places with good walking trails, great food and lovely people – _like Cinque Terre, Cordilleras, Cradle Mountain and Punakha Plateau.

Board Member Jenny Visvalingam
Jenny is a board member and a member of the Moonee Valley LAC. Jenny is an experienced finance professional with 7 years of industry experience in the aged care sector both abroad and across Australia. Jenny holds an extensive comprehension of aged care legislation and knowledge of complex financial concepts within the aged care landscape. She is passionate about ensuring that mature members of our community and their families are given adequate support navigating the aged care system. Coming from a bilingual background she often volunteers at aged care homes and provides companionship to those familiar with her mother tongue. On the creative side, Jenny is trained in music with particular interest in piano and drums. She also has advanced cake decorating skills and would love to speak to members about all things related cake design.

Board Member Suresh Bhaskaran
Suresh is a recently appointed board member and a member of the Brighton Bayside LAC. Suresh has over 25 years of experience spanning engineering and financial services, with a specialised focus on Data, Analytics and Technology. He has held key leadership roles in renowned organisations such as Cbus, BNP Paribas, ANZ and IAG, where he led teams through large-scale transformational change, delivering tangible benefits to members and customers alike. Suresh brings a wealth of experience to the board of LACVI from the corporate sector with a keen emphasis on governance, process, risk management and technology. In his leisure time, Suresh enjoys pursuing his interests in golf, bike riding, all things related to cars and the odd walk with his family of three young boys. Driven by a passion to better understand the needs of our members and harnessing the power of data and technology, Suresh hopes to continue being a catalyst for change, both in his professional endeavours and his dedication to community well-being. Suresh has a Bachelor of Engineering and Science from the University of Melbourne.

Board Member Tim Richardson
Tim has recently joined inner Melbourne LAC. Tim comes to the LACVI Board as a new member who has significant experience as a business and technology leader with a key focus on enabling business through Digital, Automation and Technology enablement. He has also worked with regulators in respect to emerging trends and external regulatory forces facing organisations across various Industries including Financial Services, Healthcare, Professional Services, and the Not for Profit Sector (in Aged Care). He also has over 20 years experience working across the Superannuation sector and is currently an Advisor to various corporates. Tim enjoys travel, spending time with his family and spending time with the community and attending sporting activities.
