LIfe Activities Clubs Victoria Senior Achievement Award

pf20161014-3164The inaugural Life Activities Clubs Victoria Senior Achievement Award was conferred on Love To Sew Ladies, a small community group from Shepparton, at the Regional Achievement and Community Awards Gala Presentation Night on 14 October.
The new award was sponsored by Life Activities Clubs Victoria in conjunction with Henry Carus & Associates to recognise individuals, organisations or corporates that have excelled in improving the wellbeing of people in the second half of life, particularly by promoting ‘self-help’.
pf20161014-3172The Senior Achievement Award is one of ten awards announced at the Gala Awards Night on 14 October. In making the presentation, Lindsay Doig (Immediate Past President of Life Activities Clubs Victoria) congratulated all the nominees and said ‘we hope that this Award will continue as a means of strengthening the opportunities for rural and regional seniors to participate more fully in the activities they choose, without drawing unduly on scarce government and community resources’.
Love to Sew Ladies of Shepparton, was established 15 years ago and consists of a group of volunteers who share a love of sewing, knitting and craft. The ladies have donated clothing to orphans in Romania and assist Shepparton Villages with their fuindraising activities. They make exquisi hand knitted woollen socks and have hand sewn 120 bed quilts to raise funds for their new facility.
