Combined Cycling Group Trip to Inverloch – 20th March to 24th March 2017

Of the forty-two members and visitors who attended the trip away, thirty-five were riders.  The most intrepid of the group rode about 220 km over the week exploring the lovely rail trails of South Gippsland.  The Friday cruisers were not quite so adventurous but covered about 100 km and thoroughly enjoyed the natural surroundings, smelling the roses, and long coffee breaks.  The non-riders explored the local galleries, cliff-top walks and coffee lounges, and did some retail therapy.

It was quite amazing that while Glen Waverley was inundated in the early part of the week and Inverloch had 50mm of rain overnight, all rides were in dry weather and the tracks were not affected by the rain.  Some of the group even managed nine holes of golf on the Inverloch par three course.  Our two BBQ’s were enjoyed on balmy evenings.

It was great to have Kooby and Rob from Metung join us as they organised last year’s trip, and we were able to catch up with them again.  We all had to behave ourselves over the week as Ken had his little notebook out to record our misdemeanours, and imposed fines at the end of the week.  The LAC Christmas Party will benefit from our misbehaviour.  For some members the fines were quite costly.

All in all it was a great week, and we thank all those who participated, and strongly urge those who were unable to join us this year to try to plan your calendar so you can be part of the fun at next year’s excursion at approximately the same time of the year.
